sol’s Ranting Space #1 – A Bad Day with a Touch of a Hilarious Message

I feel like whenever I blog, there is always something I rant about. So time for a ranting space, cause people need to vent and I am only human.

Well, I believe we all have those days, am I right? You know, those days where everything goes wrong, because the universe is plotting your demise behind your back and it feels like the next crack will break your back and then you will fall into black hole and return to nothingness? Well my day wasn’t that bad, but if any one feels like the above… I am sorry, but I just have no words of comfort other than… I hope ya feel better!

My day was more salty than anything really. lol
I’d honestly rather talk about something more happy and filled with rainbows, but… meh, screw that. ( ̄▽ ̄*)

sol’s Weekly Update #6

Hey, minna-san! I’m back!

Blog & Site Update
My semester has finally come to an end, and since I will be taking a break for the most part this summer, I’ll finally be able to get around to finishing up that OZMAFIA!! review, among other things. I’m not completely taking a break, however, as while I have increased work hours, I’m also going to be doing some independent studying this summer with Japanese linguistics, along with practicing and improving my art skills as a Fine Art student. Even so, I really want to get back to posting here more frequently than I have, and I’m also going to try to get some more reviews in. I actually invested enough to purchase a PS Vita, as well as some more visual novel based games (namely otome)! You can see the games I plan to review here.

I know I still have a lot of games to get to, but with more time on my hands, I’ll be trying to knock a few of them off the TO-DO list. To be honest, most of my free-time during the Spring semester was taken up by, well… just blame it all on Nier:Automata and Persona 5. Because, man… you gotta admit that those two are ADDICTIVE!! One. does. not. simply. stop. playing. them. ( ・᷄ㅂ・᷅ )

With that being said, OZMAFIA!!’s review is nearly done, I have long finished the game, and I’m just needed to add some finishing touches. The game itself was a rather interesting concept, but I will save my opinions on it for the review. I will say though that the character reviews go by pretty quick. As they tend to be quite similar in format. Yeah, I’m sure you can probably tell how this review will go if there wasn’t something that stood out in each, if not, most routes.

I’ll try to have the character reviews and the overall review up by sometime next week, the end of next week being the latest.

I’m still not sure which game to start next. But I’ll probably start Shizuku no Oto, since it is a relatively short game (2-10 hours).

That rounds up this week’s update. As always minna-san, stay frosty. ヾ(⌐■_■)ノ♪♬

sol’s Weekly Update #5

I’m not dead yet, minna-san!!

Blog Update
My first semester has come and gone since my last update, and all I can say is that I survived… with amazing results! I was hoping to get to posting more often during the winter break, but unfortunately, I had some stuff to take care of. Apart from having some things to get done that I had to put on hold during the semester, I’ve also gotten fed up with my current part-time job and I have been looking for another. It’s a long story, but I had to remove a class I was going to take this Spring semester, altering my school schedule to fit their needs, among other things. I’m also two years overdue for a raise.

Needless to say, I’ve been a little busy with looking for a new job for me while I’m in school, one that cares about me and my education. I truly envy these kids that can go to college full-time without having to also work. You lucky little shi- dumplings! It’s about time for a change of pace anyway, as if you are working somewhere, be it part-time or full-time, and you have yet to get even a small raise… it’s time to move on.

Aside from the job hunting, my new semester begins as of next Monday. Not sure if I will have more or less time this semester. Thanks to my current job, I’m only taking a single class with writing, and I’m pretty sure my other two classes are going to be centered on drawing.

Site Update
Given my love for the Houshin Engi series and the fact that we have 10 days left until the new Houshin Engi anime airs, you all know what this calls for, right? A daily countdown! As of today, I will be translating a character song from the original anime each day for the countdown. Honestly, I’ve translated most already… but still, I’ll be posting one a day.

I’m a little saddened though by the fact that the anime will only be 23 episodes and is supposed to cover up to the Sennin War arc. That’s just not enough to properly adapt the manga, meaning a lot may end up changed and/or left out. We shall see, but more Houshin Engi in general is always welcome to me.

That rounds up this week’s update. As always minna-san, stay frosty. ヾ(⌐■_■)ノ♪♬

sol’s Weekly Update #4

Hiya! Unfortunately, due to work related reasons, the week before last I wasn’t able to get a weekly update in Sunday. I did miss Sunday for the previous week, but here it is now, better late than never!

Blog Update
My classes are coming up in August. I’m not too sure how it’s going to cut into everything, but given how my classes are scheduled, I may be able to get plenty of work done and have free time on my days off. We’ll see.

Site Update
So just yesterday it was announced that there is going to be a remake of the 1999 anime of the manga, Houshin Engi! I’ve been ready for this since 2007, you guys. I’ve been ready for 10 years! Actually, here is a funny story here that kind of made me feel like I was in the Twilight Zone. So, the news about the Houshin Engi anime remake was announced July 31, 2017. I just realized a few hours later when I was working on the Houshin Engi wiki I started up four years ago, that I started it in… wait for it… July 31, 2013. That’s, uh… quite the coincidence. Am I psychic? Like, that actually creeped me out a bit. Holy– o.O

Anyway, Houshin Engi is my all-time favorite manga! I LOVE it! So this news made my day. I had to deal with some super annoying people a few hours later, and even they couldn’t ruin my mood, and I have very little patience with people. In response to this announcement, I’ll be trying to pay attention to any more news as it comes and post it here. I’ll also be translating ALL lyrics for the music of the old 1999 anime, this INCLUDES character songs. Truth be told, I actually already translated the majority of them, but I’ll finish the rest up and post them all here. I started them since there were only about a couple or so translated, so I’m going to stop being selfish and share them with others.

Of the current character songs I have translated from the 1999 anime, I have completed all but one of the first character album, and I have four more to do on the second album.

That rounds up this week’s update. As always minna-san, stay frosty. ヾ(⌐■_■)ノ♪♬

New Houshin Engi Anime! The Hype is Real!!

So it’s been announced that the manga Houshin Engi is finally getting an anime reboot… Excuse me… -breaths in- AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!! 8DDDDD

Alright, I think I’m goo—- ad$@&!#hH%J!!!!

Now time to get serious. Houshin Engi is manga series that was serialized in Shounen Jump from June 11, 1996 to October 24, 2000. On July 3rd, 1999 to December 25, 1999 it aired in Japan as a 26 episode series, and later spanned an English Dub here in America by VIZ Media.

Unfortunately, due to the fact that the manga was still ongoing at the time of the anime being aired, the anime suffered from a plot change. The manga itself is 204 chapters long, so I’m anticipating a fairly long anime out of this reboot. Looking at Magi that’s well over 300 chapters, having 2 seasons that are fairly paced out and only covering up to about 150+ chapters, I’m gonna go out on a limb and say that Houshin Engi needs to be at least 50 or so episodes… at LEAST. Preferably a little bit longer, but 50 episodes would probably satisfy me and other fans of this manga just fine.

Right now, I don’t think there has been much information released on the new anime. However, there has been three new voice actors and their roles revealed:

Taikoubou: Kensho Ono
Bunchuu: Tomoaki Maeno
Sibuxiang: Takahiro Sakurai

I think Kensho Ono will do a great job as Taikoubou, I can definitely imagine his voice for the role. Will miss Yuuki Hiro, but I don’t think he’s doing much voice acting these days. Sakurai-san sounds like an interesting choice for Sibu, but I’m sure he’ll get it done right, I just can’t wait to hear it, it’ll be cute, haha.

I’m really going to be following the news on this anime, so I’ll try to update things as they are revealed. I really do hope that it airs soon, because I am dying for it already!

sol’s Weekly Update #3

So last week there wasn’t an update. Because of work, for one, but mainly because there really wasn’t anything to update, let alone talk about. Yeah I know, I’m less entertaining than an old guy beating a tree with a stick, but you know what, nothing beats that.

Blog Update
So recently I found out about this pretty neat app called, Duolingo. In case the name itself didn’t give you any ideas about what it’s for, it’s an app that helps you learn different languages. They have a pretty nice selection, and I think they’re still adding some languages as they just added Japanese about a week ago, or so I heard. It’s completely free and I heard about it from one of my mother’s co-workers, who heard that I was currently studying Japanese independently and was looking into buying Rosetta Stone as an efficient learning method.
