Reviews

In Progress: A review currently being worked on.
Coming Soon: A review that has yet to begin, but is planned.

I want to make one thing clear: Just because I rate an anime something, it does NOT mean that I am giving it my own personal rating. Personally, I rate an anime solely based on enjoyment, which you can see in each review in the Enjoyment section. My overall rating in each review is based on the anime’s qualities (see below) including enjoyment; in other words, the rating you all acknowledge. My personal rating is just for MyAnimeList, so bottom line, the score for an anime you see here in a review may or may not differ in my list on MAL. Also, my reviews are all opinion based, you may or may not agree with them.

How I Review Anime:

– First Impressions
– Story/Plot
– Characters
– Art & Animation
– Sound
– Concluding Thoughts
– Enjoyment

I tend to review anime by seasons, but there are some exceptions.

While the full review and individual reviews for any routes in a visual novel may cover the exact elements, they are executed differently. A review for a route will only cover what ties in to the route in question, and given how each route is different from one another, there are bound to be differing elements to discuss. For example, the way music is used in each route. In one route the music may have been used in a very timely way, but in another it may not have been as well executed. With each route, I will also discuss the various endings (if any, such as: True/Good Ending or Bad Ending) available with each route. As for the review for the entire visual novel, it will cover how well all the routes come together to form the entire story and the other elements as a whole. All the ratings given to each individual route will affect the overall rating for the visual novel. Of course, the reviews for the individual routes (if there are any) will come first before reviewing the entire visual novel.

Grading System:

Score of 1:
Absolute failure of an anime. Everything about it is just a lame excuse for an anime, a joke; story, characters, music/sound, art, animation. The result is always a drop and those with this grade can be found on the Dropped section of the blog. You may not want to watch it, but tread lightly.

Score of 2:
Bordering between failure and pitiful. Kind of boring and just cannot get into. The result is almost always a drop and those with this grade can be found on the Dropped section of the blog. Best to avoid it altogether, tread lightly.

Score of 3:
Not interesting in the slightest. Can get further into the anime than those rated 1 or 2 before dropping. It would probably be a good idea to avoid it.

Score of 4:
Okay. Not the best, but the lowest grade that might make it through to the end and not end up dropped; depends on the person. It has potential, but lacks a major, a couple, or a variety of the common features such as story, characters, music/sound, art, animation. Either way, there is at least one thing that is executed correctly and decently. Also the most likely to be given a second chance. Watch at your own risk.

Score of 5:
Not too bad. Executed well enough to avoid dropping, but nothing grand about it. Basically a shrug and scratch to the head is all I can give in response to it. Not an anime I’d recommend.

Score of 6:
Its decent. Won’t end up being dropped as one can bare watching all the way through. It still lacks something, at least 2 features aren’t executed well enough. May be watched again and reviewed for better evaluation.

Score of 7:
Pretty good. Good enough to the point I may watch it again out of boredom. The majority of it was well executed, but on the contrary it lacks at least one major quality. Lowest grade where I’d actually recommend it.

Score of 8:
Very good. Everything was portrayed nicely, but it gives off a feeling of something missing. Its considered entertaining and one can get enjoyment from watching it.

Score of 9:
Marvelous. Well executed, entertaining, a delight to have watched. This is one of those anime you may find yourself re-watching again and again. Unique and brilliant, one you’d recommend with a smile and deserves to be praised. However, what stands between it getting a score of 10 could be as little as a very tiny detail that you didn’t like to something like just one poorly executed scene/moment.

Score of 10:
Masterpiece! A perfect example of how an anime should be. Everything about it is flawless and nothing to complain about. You’ll find this to be an anime you will look back on and think about and you will most likely find yourself re-watching and never grow tired of it. Deserves a hulking amount of praise, and I’d certainly recommend it in a heartbeat to any and all anime fans.
